BrailleDB, the Braille device database

This website lists Braille devices, to our knowledge all those which are available for consumer purchase. Since there are many of these, they are often expensive, and there are few convenient ways for users to test many, or sometimes any, of them before choosing one, this provides a way to see the details of a device, filter the available ones by feature, and compare options.

How to use the database

Depending on what you would like to do, there are three main ways to use the database:

• If you want to see information about one particular display, find its full specification by searching for it in the box at the top of any page. This will provide a summary of its characteristics, specifications, and features, and links to more information and reviews.
• If you would like to search displays that have a certain set of features, then advanced search is the tool for that. This allows you to search all the displays that we have in the database for ones that have exactly the set of features you specify.
• If you would like to compare a few devices to see their information all at once, then the compare tool is the way to do that. There are two ways to use this. If you have the names of the devices you want to compare, then you can go to the compare page and enter each one to add it to the comparison. Alternatively, from the search results from the advanced search process described above, you can check any devices from the returned list to open a comparison between them.
